How to Play a Survey Game

The one rule

Don't answer what's true. Answer what most people would say. That's the entire game, and it's why a survey game feels different from trivia: being clever is often worse than being obvious.

Step by step

• ▸A prompt appears, like “Name something people do before bed”.
• ▸Behind it sits a board of five or six real answers, ranked by popularity.
• ▸On your turn you type one guess before the 30-second timer runs out.
• ▸If it matches an answer, that slot flips over and you take its points.
• ▸Play passes to the next player until the board clears or everyone is out of guesses.

Scoring, explained

Each answer's points reflect how much of the survey it took. The top answer is normally worth three or four times the bottom one, so there's a real choice between playing safe and going for a slot nobody else will find.

Between rounds, a recap shows every answer, who found it and how the scores changed. At the end, the podium ranks everyone.

Tactics that actually work

• ▸Say the first thing that comes to mind. It's usually top three.
• ▸Late in a round, the obvious answers are gone — swing for the unusual one.
• ▸Don't overthink spelling; close guesses are matched automatically.
• ▸Watch what other players miss. That's your board next round.
